How to Know If Your U.K Immigrant Visa is Approved or Rejected?

As a Nigerian, you should know by now that getting a U.K visa is becoming very hard every day. Many people have a lot of questions in their mind, such as how to know if your U.K visa is approved.

If you have applied for a U.K visa, but have not heard back from the consular office, you will be worried because you want know if the visa application was rejected or approved. You don’t know if a decision has been made on your U.K visa application or your application has been processed and dispatched along with your document to VFS.

However, if your visa is rejected or approved, you will still receive an appropriate notification in the email address you provided during your registration. The truth is that a UK Visa refusal is a regular occurrence, and the Consular Offices have no problem handing them out to many applicants.

Provided below in this article is how to find out if  a decision has been made on your U.K visa application before you receive your Passport back.

From my personal experience and the research I have completed by reading about U.K visa application and asking questions to other applicants that have applied, I’ve found out that the emails sent to rejected applicants are different from those sent to approved applicants.

This is why I have decided to share with you these emails below in order for applicants to know beforehand; instead of waiting to see it on their international passport.

As a regular applicant for U.K Visa application, you should be ready for anything like rejection or approval.

There are two types of emails you’ll receive in email for any Tier 4 student visa application you have submitted.

The email that they send to a rejected candidate has this format:

Sent by: ISTANvisainfo@fco.gov.uk

Email Subject: visa application

Dear Applicant, A decision has now been taken on your application. Your documents will be sent to you shortly through the visa application centre (Teleperformance) Please allow 1-3 days courier time depending on the country that you have applied.

Kind Regards, Customer Services Unit, UK Visas and Immigration | British Consulate General | Istanbul

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY TO THIS EMAIL ADDRESS. Please note that, this email address does not accept incoming emails. If you need to reply, please send it through http://www.ukvi-international.faq-help.com/

Then, for approved application, the email is different. Below is the format of the email you’ll receive from the consular office.

Sent by: ISTANvisainfo@fco.gov.uk

Email Subject: UK visa application in Turkey (Ref: 12345678)

A decision has now been made on your application. Please allow 1-3 days for your documents to arrive at your Visa Application Centre/or to be couriered back to you. You can track your application status on http://www.tpcontact.co.uk

Please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration

for more information about the UK visa and what it permits visitors to do whilst they are in the UK.

As you can see a significant difference between both emails and those who are still in doubt, here’s a further proof that can give you further explanation.

To begin with, by studying the subject line in the email You’ll find out that the first application gives just a simple “visa application” while the second application received shows a detailed “UK visa application” in Turkey with a reference number provided as well (Ref: 12345678).

The second email shows where this application was processed and adds a reference number so that it can be tracked or referenced for future use.

The key reason why this gives you a reference number is because that will be your visa approval number and the officer use this number to add you to their subscriber list of visa approved applicants.

If you look further, you can also spot other differences in both emails.
